Playing with the Elements is a playful, sensory arts project taking place outdoors in both green and blue spaces for 1 family at a time. It’s designed for families with children and young people who have learning difficulties, disabilities and/or neurodivergences.
The project looks at how engaging with the elements throughout the changing seasons can improve sensory wellbeing.
Previous sessions included coming together around a campfire, inflatable play sessions and wild swimming sessions in Scottish lochs and beaches.

“We managed to do things I wouldn’t have found on my own without this project. We wouldn’t have had these experiences”
“It’s been great to all be together, make connections, to experience different things together, to feel safe doing that with [participant]”
Taster sessions will include outdoor sound and visual art sessions. Through these sessions we would explore individual and family outdoor sensory interests to create bespoke mini family arts projects.
- Families are invited to participate in any way that suits them.
- You don’t need to have a formal diagnosis.
- All sessions are facilitated and supervised by Kirstin Georgia Abraham and Connor O’Donnell, both experienced artists and facilitators with years of experience working with families with additional support needs.
- The project risk assessment and the organisation’s safeguarding policy are available to view.
