Snap Elastic is a new, artist-led collaborative ensemble made up of theatre makers Alice Mary Cooper, Eszter Marsalkó and Claire Willoughby.

Working across art-forms we create work that makes a real connection between the art and its audience as well as between audience members – sparking a healthy debate between peers, teachers, children and families. We aim to make our audience feel connected, present and important.

Our art is activism: as a form of political self-expression, as power and a device for change. Key themes are sustainability, friendship, resilience and connectedness.

Recent achievements by our creative team include:

  • Eszter Marsalkó and Claire Willoughby’s Eat Me was described as “a vision of excess consumption in a world where lust for sensory pleasure turns cannibalistic.” (Mark Fisher, The Guardian) after a presentation at Manipulate
  • Claire Willoughby’s Giddy Aunt presented work at Battersea Arts Centre, Pulse, Edinburgh International Children’s Festival, Edinburgh International Book Festival and been awarded a Michael Grandage Futures Fund
  • Alice Mary Cooper’s Waves toured New Zealand, Ireland and Scotland after a run at Edinburgh International Children’s Festival.
  • Shake(speare) it off! by Alice Mary Cooper and Claire Willoughby was commissioned by Royal Shakespeare Company and Pilot Nights for their Pilot Site’s Midsummer Festival Family Day at the RSC, Stratford-upon-Avon
