We are seeking a clarinet or oboe player who is also a strong singer & performer, ideally based in Edinburgh, for ‘Sound Symphony’, a theatre performance designed especially for young people on the autistic spectrum. The musician must be able to play in a classical style, as well as being an extremely skilled improviser. The musician needs to have excellent performance skills, be open and creative and not scared of looking silly or going out their comfort zone.

The rehearsals will be a devised theatre process, meaning all performers will have creative input. They must be comfortable working with young people who have complex needs. Although desirable, no experience on working in this specific area is needed as intensive training and support in working with young people with diverse needs will be offered throughout.

The contract runs from the 8th of April – 25th May 2019 and includes three weeks’ rehearsal, production week and three-week tour across Scotland. The role is not specific to any gender and we encourage musicians from all backgrounds, and with all types of needs to apply. This is a paid role that offers a weekly fee, includes holiday pay. Travel, and expenses will be provided.

If you feel you fit the bill, please send a CV and your contact details to: mhari (at) independentartsprojects (dot) com by Monday 25th February.

If you’ve any questions, please email the address above or call 0131 510 9427.
