We are looking for Palestinian performance artists across all disciplines including; musicians, theatre-makers, dancers, storytellers, composers, choreographers, children’s theatre, poets, comedians and more to perform at the 2027 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, as part of our 8-day festival.

We are looking for a range of artists working across different fields of performance. This call out is open to all Palestinian artists based anywhere in the world.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking to showcase Palestinian art across all forms, from comedy to dance, poetry to children’s theatre. But there are some limitations due to the resources we have, so we can only accept proposals for shows that are the following:

Small scale – we are a grassroots festival with limited resources, so the show needs to have simple tech requirements, and the team cannot be bigger than two people. The whole show needs to fit in reasonable personal hold luggage.

Live performance – the Edinburgh Fringe is primarily a festival of live performance so we cannot accept applications for visual art or film unless there is a live element involved.

Short duration – slots are 60 minutes long, we cannot accept proposals for shows that are longer. If the proposal is 30 min or shorter than please be prepared to share the performance slot with another artist.

Completed – you can apply with a finished show or a work-in-progress but there needs to be a work of art to present. We do not have the resources to host a development process or a residency, or to support with production costs. Shows that aren’t in English need to have a finished translation and surtitles, we do not have the resources to translate a text.

Proposals that can’t provide a finished creation or documentation of work in progress will not be considered.

Artists who participated at previous editions of the festival are welcome to apply but priority will be given to artists that we haven’t programmed or worked with before.

WHAT WILL WE PROVIDE

Bringing a show to the Edinburgh Fringe is hard work and very expensive. We don’t only aim to break down barriers to attending the Fringe, we also want to alleviate the usual stresses involved in bringing a show to Edinburgh.

Artist Fee – rather than a box office split, which is the usual agreement fringe venues have with artists, we’ll be paying each company/artist a fee of £2000.

Travel, Visas and Accommodation – we will cover all travel and visa costs, and organise accommodation for all artists.

Expenses – each artist will receive a per diem, bus passes, and have all of the fringe costs (i.e registration fees) covered.

PR and Marketing – our festival will be marketed and publicised both digitally and in print.

A venue and simple tech support – we will provide a venue for the duration of our festival, a dedicated space, offering more targeted visibility in the chaos of the festival.

Documentation – your performance will be documented for your own use.

Complimentary Tickets – where possible we will arrange complimentary tickets for participating artists with partner venues across the festivals.

Networking Events – we will connect the visiting artists to the local arts scene as well as host networking events for international promoters and producers who are visiting the festival.

WHAT IS THE EDINBURGH FESTIVAL FRINGE?
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is the world’s largest arts festival and an open-access event “where anyone with a story to tell and a venue to perform in can take part”. Established in 1947, the festival takes place every August across hundreds of stages in Edinburgh, featuring everything from theatre and comedy to circus, cabaret, and music. More than 4,000 shows were registered for the 2026 festival. Around 1750 arts industry professionals (producers, programmers, bookers, etc) from 68 countries attend the festival.

WHAT IS WELCOME TO THE FRINGE PALESTINE?
Welcome to the Fringe Palestine is an initiative to bring Palestinian Artists to perform at the Edinburgh Fringe. We want to platform their voices and celebrate Palestinian art and culture, with freedom and without censorship. While here, the project will support them to engage with the festival, meet audiences, see shows, make contacts, make friends, and enjoy the city. Founded by playwright David Greig in 2015, and remounted by a group of independent artists in 2025, Welcome to the Fringe Palestine is now being produced with Independent Arts Projects.

You can find us on facebook and instagram.

We accept applications in both English and Arabic.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with Sara Shaarawi at sara@i-a-p.net.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Deadline: 23:59 (midnight) on Wednesday 9 December 2026
